Innovation Center awarded $350,000
The Ohio Third Frontier Commission has awarded Ohio University's Innovation Center $350,000 to help grow technology businesses in southeastern Ohio.
OUL theatre cast honored with Kennedy invitation
The entire cast of Ohio University Lancaster Theatre program's "To Kill a Mockingbird" has been asked to perform a scene from the show at the Kennedy Center College Theater Festival this month.
The Kennedy Center American College Theater is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide.
6 professors get 'Excellence in Education' honors
Six faculty members from three Ohio University campuses are being recognized for their outstanding work in the field of higher education. The faculty members are being featured in Ohio Magazine's annual "Excellence in Education" section, which showcases professors from Ohio's universities and colleges.
Schoonover Center for Communication now open
The state-of-the-art Steven L. Schoonover Center for Communication is now open to the public on the main campus of Ohio University in Athens. The building, which sits on the site of the former Baker Center, is named for Steven L. Schoonover, a 1967 graduate of the Scripps College of Communication who made a $7.5-million lead gift towards the construction of the facility in 2007.
An alumna leaves her mark on the mock Seigfred Hall exhibition at "A Night in Athens... In Chicago!" on Dec. 12. More than 400 Ohio University alumni and friends gathered at the Chicago Marriott Downtown on the Magnificent Mile for a special alumni event. Gear up for Sibs Weekend, Feb. 7-9
Ohio University Alumni Association chapters in Cleveland and Akron will offer bus transportation for Sibs Weekend to help raise scholarship funds. Chapter scholarships send a local area student to OHIO.
This year, charter buses are available from Akron and Cleveland. These two women's chapters have existed for more than 60 years and have been working with Sibs Weekend for more than 15 years. Click on the link below for registration details.
Round trip tickets on chapter sponsored buses are $75 per person, and each bus has chapter volunteers that act as bus chaperones.

Thursday, kick off the weekend with leadership programming, not to mention the Athens International Film + Video Festival, happening all weekend!
Friday, the weekend shifts into high gear. Go back to the classroom for Alumni College courses like "Hamlet on Film," "Senior Entrepreneurship" and "70th Anniversary of D-Day/Cornelius Ryan Symposium." Enjoy food, fun and friends during Friday evening's Alumni Reception.
Saturday, start the day with the Fitness Run/Walk. Take to College Green for the singular On the Green Barbeque. Hit the street fair on Court Street. In the evening, all alumni are invited to dinner.
Sunday, grab your sweetie for the "OH, I dO" ceremony or gather for the Interfaith Service of Remembrance. Before you leave, stop by the Farewell Brunch. Still don't want to leave the Athens area? We understand—take a Winery or Hocking Hills Tour.

Bobcats congregate for Beef 'O'Brady's Bowl
Bobcat pride was on display in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Dec. 23 as the football team took on the East Carolina Pirates in the Beef 'O'Brady's Bowl. The Bobcats fell to the Pirates, 37-20.
Roughly 350 OHIO alumni participated in a Bobcat Bash hosted by the Alumni Association and the Ohio Bobcat Club, held in Fan Feast at Tropicana Field. Five busloads of OHIO students traveled to the game and enjoyed the Fan Feast experience, complete with a live band and tons of games and food. But most important was a performance in front of the Green and White tent by the OHIO Cheerleaders and Rufus with the Most Exciting Band in the Land, the Marching 110.

Charlotte Networking Week coming soon
Feb. 20-22 is the 11th Annual Charlotte Networking Week!
The Charlotte Chapter will be hosting an Alumni Banquet on Thursday evening and an Alumni Happy Hour on Friday evening.
The purpose of Charlotte Networking Week is to assist Ohio University students in networking with Ohio University alumni in Charlotte to help students with their career and job search. This event also allows students to visit various companies in Charlotte to get a better understanding of the Charlotte job market and industries available.
