Ohio Program set to celebrate 75 years of distinction
The College of Health Sciences and Professions is planning a weekend of activities for the 75th anniversary of Communication Sciences and Disorders program. The celebrations will start on Sept. 14 with a keynote address from alumna Laura Justice who is a professor at the School of Teaching and Learning at Ohio State University.
J-School students return from covering the London Olympics
Ohio University journalism professor Hans Meyer and 15 Scripps students returned to Ohio after three weeks in London covering the Olympics. Meyer said the group was able to produce about 150 stories while gaining alot of experience.
University signs lease agreement for use of former Woolworth building
Ohio University has agreed on a lease with local property owner Carolyn Gilmore for the former Woolworth building on Court St. The Univerisity plans to make the first floor office space while renting out 10 units on the 2nd floor.
Poet Mark Halliday champions imaginative, accessible verse
Mark Halliday, an English department professor at Ohio University, was recently awarded the title of “Distinguished Professor” for his poetry. Halliday explains in an interview his technique, influences and perspective of the poetry world.
Volleyball duo traveled to China with US Developmental Team
This summer, two Ohio Volleyball sophomores, Chelsea Bilger and Kelly Lamberti traveled to China for the Bring It Promotions/USA Volleyball Global Challenge. The two were part of a team that played six matches over 13 days against three of China's top professional teams.
This year’s Homecoming theme is “Better than the Best Ever” in honor of the late Ron Socciarelli, who conducted the Marching 110 for nearly 20 years. Plan to join fellow Bobcats in returning home for the whole week or just for the game against Akron on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Ebony Bobcat Network Annual Meeting
The Ebony Bobcat Network leadership and founding board members gathered in Cleveland on Aug. 17-18 for their annual meeting with Ohio University Advancement staff also attending. Dr Roderick J. McDavis ‘70 was given the EBN Trailblazer Award for his ’accomplishments and vision in creating the Urban Scholars Program.' Black Alumni Reunion
Save the date Sept. 27-29, 2013
The Black Alumni Reunion is the largest reunion at Ohio University. The reunion is hosted every three years by the Ohio University Alumni Association, with help from two committees comprising on-campus departments, organizations, student groups and alumni. In the past, the weekend has featured entertaining and educational events, including dance performances, book signings, and discussions about the current and future state of the university, concerts and a gala. In 2010, more than 1,600 alumni returned to OHIO for this event and raised more than $40,000 for the Urban Scholars Program.
