 Bobcats motor to Detroit with win over Temple
The Bobcats clinched a share of the MAC East regular season title on Friday by beating Temple 35-17 -- and earned a berth into the Mid-American Conference title game. Ohio will face Central Michigan for the 2009 MAC title at Ford Field in Detroit on Friday at 8 p.m. Look for upcoming details on the MAC Championship.
Volleyball team takes home 6th MAC title
OHIO volleyball, led by Ellen Herman, two-time MAC Conference Player of the Year, claimed its sixth MAC Tournament title in the past seven years.
"It's terrific," said head coach Ryan Theis. "I couldn’t be happier for the seniors. It couldn’t go to a better group, and I’m thrilled for them."
Field hockey claims conference crown
The OHIO field hockey team claimed its third MAC title in the last four years with a 2-1 victory over rival Miami in the Mid-American Conference Tournament championship game earlier this month.
OHIO student named College Photographer of the Year
Ryan C. Henriksen, a senior at OHIO, was named College Photographer of the Year in the 64th College Photographer of the Year competition on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. Maisie Crow, also of Ohio University, won the runner-up spot.
Judges viewed more than 12,000 still images and 226 multimedia projects entered by 607 student photographers from 131 colleges and universities in 21 different countries.

Central Ohio alumni and friends celebrated 100 years of Bobcat
networking on Nov. 4 at the Darby Dan Farm in Galloway. Current and
former leadership came together to reminisce on their past successes
and promote future scholarship funding for Central Ohio students.

OHIO reports $67.7 million in external funding for research
Ohio University faculty and staff were awarded $67.7 million in state, federal and private funding for research and sponsored programs in fiscal year 2009, up from $60.3 million the previous year. Funding for the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, which attracted awards for research in avionics and clean coal technologies, grew by 68.5 percent.
The total external funding includes $32.2 million for research, up from $25.9 million in fiscal year 2008, and $35.5 million for non-research sponsored programs.
The Russ College of Engineering and Technology experienced the biggest increase in research funding, from $12.1 million in fiscal year 2008 to $20.4 million in 2009. |

OHIO instructor's recording projects are 'experience of a lifetime'
Instructor, professional audio/video producer and facility designer Chris Weibel had the experience of a lifetime this past summer recording an album for artist Jimmy Hook and award-winning drummer Liberty DeVitto.
Weibel, a special projects manager for the Scripps College of Communication and faculty member in both the School of Media Arts and Studies and the School of Visual Communication, started professionally producing and mastering music albums 25 years ago and has had the chance to work as a freelance consultant nationwide.
"Since I continually do professional projects throughout the year, I can bring my experience in producing to the classroom as well," Weibel said. "Sometimes, I even bring my classes to the production with me." |

"The Phone-a-Thon" is back again, and this time Dan and the others are
calling for campus / community initiatives (after all, Athens is part of
what makes OHIO great!). In this episode, we learn a bit more about the
softer side -- the "passionate" side, if you will -- of Dan, Sue’s
rough-around-the-edges boyfriend.

series that takes a lighthearted look at the student experience through the

Bill Loftus '58, '72 is a dedicated alumnus of Ohio University. As an instructor for the University of Dayton and administrator for St. Vincent de Paul Society, he is involved at Ohio University with the Army ROTC Alumni Society, the Dayton Chapter, the Speech and Debate Team, the Volunteer Alumni Admissions Network, the Bobcat Mentor Program, the Bobcat Club, and is the Bobcat Rep in Dayton for Ohio Athletics.
In addition to the above, he is also a former two-time Alumni Director of Ohio University and a proud Bobcat Legacy, as his son John is currently a junior at Ohio University and a cadet in the Army ROTC program.
